Research Associations
The Institute for Pharmacology and Toxicology partners with a lot of research associations. Among them are training programmes like BIGS DrugS or the Research Training Group 1873.
CRC/TRR333
The Collaborative Research Centre focuses on metabolism, especially brown adipose tissue (BAT) and the overarching goal of identifying future therapeutic targets for obesity treatment. Recently (2026) the DFG renewed funding for the Consortio, which is located at Bonn, Munich and Hamburg.
PharmaCenter Bonn
The Research Center for Innovative Drugs and Therapies at the University of Bonn is committed to interdisciplinary research and development projects. As part of th University of Bonn, the PZB is especially dedicated to promoting independent academic research in the field of pharmacological and pharmaceutical research.
BIGS DrugS
BIGS DrugS is a structured graduate program focusing on pharmacological and pharmaceutical sciences. BIGS DrugS scientists are dedicated to basic and applied research related to novel drugs and therapies.
SFB 1328
SFB 1328 is a research consortium focused on understanding the role of adenine nucleotides (AN) in immunity and inflammation. Through interdisciplinary studies, the consortium explores how AN modulate immune responses and inflammation in various diseases. Their research investigates the signaling pathways involving ATP, NAD, and other intracellular messengers, with the goal of uncovering new therapeutic targets for inflammatory disorders.
TRR 259
The TRR259 is a Collaborative Research Center funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) at the University Bonn, Cologne, and Düsseldorf. In a joint and multidisciplinary effort, we are investigating the molecular and cellular mechanisms of aortic disease holistically, with a particular focus on aortic valve stenosis, aortic aneurysm, and aortic dissection. Prospectively, we envision identifying novel pharmacological, interventional, and surgical targets for diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic strategies within the frame of translational and clinical studies.
